Handling methods for chiller malfunctions

A chiller is an energy-saving machine that achieves refrigeration effect through steam compression or absorption circulation, and is widely used in the field of industrial refrigeration. But some customers find that the cooling effect of the chiller has decreased after running for a period of time, or the chiller has experienced some malfunctions and cannot complete the expected work. So how to deal with the malfunction of the chiller? Here is the sharing from Jimes Refrigeration editor:

The handling of chiller faults must strictly follow the maintenance steps. Chiller operators should not act without authorization when the situation is unclear, the fault is unknown, and there are countless thoughts. Disassembling the chiller at will not only fails to identify the cause of the fault, but often expands the existing faults of the chiller, or causes new faults, and may even cause serious damage to the chiller.

If the user's running chiller suddenly malfunctions, the chiller should first be shut down, and then a detailed on-site inspection of the chiller should be carried out to determine the working condition of each component at the time of the malfunction and determine which part of the chiller is at fault and the extent of its damage.

After determining the cause of the chiller malfunction and taking emergency measures, the chiller operator should promptly contact the chiller manufacturer to provide a detailed explanation of the location and condition of the malfunction. After the factory arranges maintenance technicians to arrive at the site, they can personally start the chiller or auxiliary device that can operate for a short period of time without further worsening the fault, in order to correctly analyze the cause of the fault and grasp accurate sensory knowledge basis.

In addition, maintenance technicians can analyze the cause of the malfunction by checking the operation record of the chiller. Especially, it is important to pay attention to the operation data and problems that have occurred under different normal conditions in the record table, as well as the operation time and reliability of replaced or repaired parts. It is important to understand the safety protection shutdown caused by any reason, which is closely related to the occurrence of faults and cannot be ignored.

If users want to ensure that the chiller can operate normally, safely, and stably for 24 hours, it is recommended to install an additional chiller as a backup if conditions permit. Even if one of the chillers inevitably fails due to long-term operation, the backup chiller can still be started to work without affecting the user's cooling needs.

Finally, and most importantly, we hope that users can take it seriously: they must regularly clean and maintain the chiller. No matter what type of machine or equipment it is, long-term operation or friction of the coupling will definitely wear down the various components of the equipment. The longer the operation time, the more failures and components will occur, and the service life will inevitably be greatly reduced. Regular maintenance of the chiller is equivalent to spending the least amount of money and ensuring long-term use of the chiller to the greatest extent possible.
